“But I’m Not Artistic.”

We hear this one a lot.

“I’d love to color, but I’m just not artistic.”

Good news: absolutely no artistic credentials are required to own colored pencils. 😂

There will be no entrance exam. Nobody is checking your résumé. And as far as we know, the Coloring Police have been severely understaffed for years.

You Don’t Have to Create the Picture

That’s the beauty of a coloring book.

Someone else already did the intimidating part—the blank page.

The lines are there. The flowers are there. The little cottage is there.

Your only job is deciding what happens next.

And if you decide that little cottage needs a bright yellow door, congratulations—you just made a creative decision.

Being creative can simply mean making choices.

Choosing colors you like.

Trying something different.

Wondering what would happen if you mixed two colors together.

Or deciding that today you’re coloring the sky pink because you feel like it.

That’s creativity too.

Nobody Is Grading This

Your coloring page doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s.

You don’t have to blend perfectly. Your shadows don’t need to fall in the correct direction. And we’re not going to discuss what happened when you colored outside the line.

We didn’t see anything.

The whole point is to enjoy yourself.

So if you’ve been avoiding coloring because you think you’re “not artistic,” grab some pencils and give it a try.

You might discover you’re more creative than you thought.

And if your first page isn’t exactly a masterpiece?

Milo recommends putting it on the refrigerator anyway. 🦝

Apparently that’s where all great art goes.
